TPO
In scientific jargon, TPO translates to Thermoplastic Polyolefin. It is categorized as a layer of a single-ply membrane composed of synthetic components along with a fabric reinforcing scrim that stabilizes and strengthens the membrane for improved and increased performance. It consists of a smattering of different rubber types that are usually a combination of polypropylene and ethylene-propylene rubber.
TPO has gained considerable use with commercial roofing systems, particularly in covering flat roofs. It’s doubly sought after for its natural reflective ability to deflect ultraviolet waves (UV) while conserving energy and saving on utility costs.
EPDM
EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) widely used in low-slope buildings in the United States and worldwide. Its two primary ingredients, ethylene and propylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. EPDM is available in both black and white, and is sold a broad variety of widths, ranging from 7.5 feet to fifty feet, and in two thicknesses, 45 and 60 mils. EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives or specially formulated tape.
Bulldod silicone roof coating
This happens to be one of our favorite products. Bulldog silicone roof coating products may be applied in extreme temperatures. This product ensures superior weatherproofing and effective protection against UV rays. Plus this watertight silicone coating can be applied directly over existing EPDM and Modified Bitumen roofing. We first inspect, repair, and clean your existing roof to make sure it’s in the proper condition before applying the silicone coating. As long as the current roof base is dry and strong, no additional roof removal is required. If there are wet areas of the roofing, these can be removed and replaced before silicone is installed. Our roofers then apply silicone coating by using a roller to cover seams and fill in cracks. Your roof is left with a water-tight seal. Although white is the most popular color for its reflective nature, these silicone coatings come in several colors
